Vapor Grown Graphene:

 

     Differentiated from multi-step “oxidization-reduction” graphene, one-step plasma-arc vapor synthesized graphene nanosheets possess high purity, large crystallite domains, high electrical conductivity, ideal lateral dimension and number of layers, ease for dispersion, and minimum structural defects and impurities such as metal ions and surfactants. The unique plasma-arc process has a high throughput of 3 to 5 kilograms per hour, enabling low production cost and large scale commercial graphene applications such as energy storage and conductive inks as well as elastomers and resins. 

    This highly conductive graphene material was used as a conductive additive in polymer binder of Li-ion battery electrodes. A vapor-grown graphene embedded large capacity LiFePO4 (LFP) battery cell of 50AH showed super-fast charge/discharge rates due to electrical conductivity enhancement in the cathode.
